Come One, Come All to Boston Children’s Hospital Charity Rocket League Tournament

This coming weekend, July 11-12, Boston Children’s Hospital will be having its first Charity Rocket League Tournament! The event will be hosted by Boston Rocket League and feature well-known esports commentators to make the tournament fun to watch live on Twitch. Grab two friends and join in on this free event!

Officially titled the Boston Children’s Hospital Charity Rocket League Tournament, the competition seeks to raise money from both viewers and sponsors. Members of the audience are encouraged to donate to the tournament’s Extra Life page, which already boasts a total of over $2,000 USD. Additionally, sponsors of the tournament have agreed to donate $5 for every goal scored by the teams competing. Keep your fingers crossed for high-scoring matches!

Participation in the tournament is free and open to anyone regardless of where they live. The competition will be viable on PC via Steam, Xbox One, PlayStation Network, and Nintendo Switch. Each match will last for five minutes. The tournament and lives-tream production is being handled by Boston Rocket League and Uptime Esports along with Extra Life and Boston Children’s. The tournament itself will be double elimination.

While the tournament will be free, make sure you sign up soon! Registration closes on July 9, so gather your team and get them signed up for a weekend full of fun, rocket-powered cars, and helping the kids at Boston Children’s. If you can’t make it and still want to contribute, feel free to donate on the event’s Extra Life page.

If you don’t have teammates, you can join the Boston Rocket League Discord to find some willing tournament buddies. Outside of the finals, there’s no guarantee which games of Rocket League will make it onto the stream, but the tournament organizers have said they will be picking games at random – with teams that have donated getting more of a priority for a stream spotlight.

You can read more about the tournament format and rules on the registration page.

Now get out there, start doing some sick flips, and train for this weekend! Best of luck to all the participants!

Don’t forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!
