Extra Life: Pirates and Possibilities

Gamers in the KC Heartland have been busy doing what they do best, playing games and healing kids!

The Park University Pirates Esports team, led by coach Ashley “AJ” Jones, hosted their first Extra Life Game Day over June 26-27. The team set an original goal of raising $750 for kids at KUMC, but 24-hours later they celebrated a total of $2,040! In addition to playing games on their live stream, they featured fundraising challenges that resulted in a couple team members having shaved heads or dying their hair red! It is so much fun watching these esports teams have fun while making a huge difference in the lives of kids in our community.

It’s not just collegiate esports athletes that can have an Extra Life Game Day, it’s everyone! No matter what kind of games you and your friends like to play, you can register to play games and heal kids, too!

This year’s Extra Life Game Day will be on Saturday, November 6 (but you can pick any day that works for you!) It’s simple to get involved!

  1. Sign up at extra-life.org to join the community
  2. Start raising funds to support KU Medical Center Pediatrics, your local Children’s Miracle Network member hospital. (100% of your fundraising will stay local to help kids seen right here in Kansas City)
  3. Play games and have fun! Get your family and friends involved and create your own Extra Life team. You can play any game you like, whether you are into PC or online games, PlayStation, tabletop games, classic board games, or even something like basketball!

Head to extra-life.org for more information and to get registered today!
