Extra Lifer Utilizes a 3D Printer to Help Make PPE Masks More Comfortable

Innovative solutions often emerge in inspiring ways during seasons of crisis. You may have seen recent images from doctors, nurses and first responders revealing abrasions on their face caused by wearing PPE masks for long hours while at work. Tyler Haase, an Extra Life supporter from Dallas, discovered a wonderful solution to help frontline medical workers. A Canadian 12-year-old scout named Quinn Callandar developed surgical mask straps and made the design available online for free. Tyler saw the potential to bring the design to his community in North Texas.

These surgical mask straps were printed via Tyler’s 3D printer. If you have an interest in printing these to support hospitals in your community, check out this model here.

Tyler, who supports Extra Life through Fragforce, donated his mask straps to various hospitals in North Texas, including a Children’s Health, a CMN Hospital in Dallas. The straps offer a small comfort by relieving ear pressure caused by masks.
