Game On for Pediatric Patients at Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital!

Did you know your participation in Extra Life, a 24 hour gaming marathon, will help support the over 110,000 patients treated each year at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital.  110,000 patients– that’s more than will fit in LSU’s Tiger Stadium!

One of those pediatric patients, Devon, was born with Trisomy 21, also known as Down Syndrome, with an atrioventricular canal defect in his heart.  At the young age of 3 months, Devon had his first heart surgery, and after a long recovery, met with a cardiologist at Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital who found fluid build up around his heart.  It was later determined that Devon needed a Tracheotomy to open up a collapsing airway. Despite these complications, today, Devon is a “very strong little fellow who has gone through a lot…but we thank God for him because he is the light of our lives” says Devon’s mom.

The funds raised through Extra Life make a huge difference!  These dollars ensure that we have world-class specialists, like Devon’s pediatric cardiologist and top of the line equipment to diagnose and treat the smallest of patients.

Remember, it’s never too early to recruit friends, family, and co-workers to participate in Extra Life.  Maybe they don’t know how important Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital is to the Baton Rouge community– tell them about Devon and Extra Life! National Game Day is Saturday, November 3rd!  To register, please visit extra-life.org/register!  Don’t forget to “like” Extra Life Baton Rouge on Facebook to follow along for local Extra Life updates.
