Happy Thanksgiving, Extra Life!

As we roll away from Game Day and into the season of giving thanks and gobblin’ food, we wanted to be sure that we were #GivingGratitude to everyone who made sure Extra Life 2020 was a resounding success! Despite everything standing in your way, you battled through, an achievement that will help hundreds of thousands, if not millions of kids across the United States and Canada. So as you eat your Thanksgiving turkey and fill up on stuffing, remember that we here at Extra Life will be giving thanks for you.

In case you’re interested in getting into the spirit of the holiday, we have a special surprise this year! We’ve been working on putting together holiday-themed assets for those who want to fundraise for Extra Life around the holidays. To that end, we have a fantastic turkey day set of images and overlays for you to use however you’d like!

#GivingTuesday is coming up on December 1. It’s a day for people to band together and donate in the spirit of the holiday season. The holiday seeks to get people involved through hashtag activism and has made exponential gains in recent years. In 2019, the total raised is somewhat unclear but estimates put it at somewhere near $1.6 billion USD. Help Extra Life to get in on the fundraising action by donating yourself or taking to social media with the #GivingTuesday hashtag to help us advocate for Extra Life.

Finally, we hope that you are going to keep yourself and your loved ones safe during Thanksgiving. Wear masks around people from outside your household, maintain social distance, and make smart choices about who you have around. We know that there has been a lot of controversy around the pandemic, but these core pieces of advice from right from our hospitals where they are seeing the full impact of COVID-19 in your communities. Cases are spiking across most of the United States, filling hospitals to capacity or beyond. Do your best to not put your life or the lives of those you care about at risk.

No matter how far away you are from your loved ones, they’re always with you. Keep them safe and stay home this Thanksgiving.

Don’t forget to sign up for Extra Life to help sick and injured kids in hospitals around the US and Canada by playing games!
