Remember Extra Life This Giving Tuesday

Every year, we find ourselves blown away by the generosity of the Extra Life community. The amount of good that your donations do for kids across North America really cannot be overstated. For this #GivingTuesday, we want to make sure we are #GivingGratitude to all of you, the people who come back year after year to make an impact in your local communities. We are grateful to our community, our fundraising partners, and the hospitals working tirelessly to save and improve the lives of countless children. With hospitals more in need this year than ever before due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we want you all to know that you have made a difference.

When we change kids’ health, we change the future – for all of us.

Despite massive challenges, our hospitals have managed to adapt to the new sets of priorities and challenges presented by the pandemic. Their facilities have been treating adult patients, opened drive-thru testing sites, and updating their ability to accommodate virtual patients. All of this on top of entering financial crises – about 2/3 of children’s hospitals in the United States and Canada are in danger of not being able to meet their financial obligations in the next year as a result of the pandemic. Nevertheless, they continue to prioritize deep cleaning sanitation to keep facilities safe for staff and patients and vital research efforts to help combat COVID-19.

We are #GivingGratitude on this #GivingTuesday for the incredible staff at our children’s hospitals that are keeping them going and making sure kids get the vital care they need.

One of the biggest blows of 2020 has been to the global economy. Our fundraising partners, big and small, have been affected in profound ways by COVID-19. In spite of the massive hit they have all taken, our partners really stepped up to support their local children’s hospitals. Kids have been able to receive life-saving care and hospitals have been able to afford equipment as their budgets shrink, even as stores and services have been crunched by the pandemic’s economic effects.

To the members of our community: Thank you. It’s because of your work to bring in donations that our hospitals have been able to embrace telehealth and afford protective equipment for patients and staff. Whether you know it or not, you have been helping our hospitals to stay open and safe. On #GivingTuesday, we are #GivingGratitude for the difference you made.

When we change kids’ health, we change the future – for all of us.
