Typical Gamer Makes Huge Donation to Extra Life & Visits CHLA Fan
Andre Rebelo, best known to his millions of fans as Typical Gamer, has turned streaming games and recording videos into a full-time job across a variety of platforms. He rose to popularity by streaming videos of himself playing games like Fortnite, Minecraft, quirky mods for Grand Theft Auto 5, and Ark: Survival Evolved. Starting today, he has announced that Typical Gamer will now be exclusively on YouTube Gaming!
As part of the move to YouTube Gaming, Rebelo has announced that he will be donating $10,000 USD of his own money to Extra Life. His donation will go toward helping the kids at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Any fundraising he does in the future will likely go to his closest Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.
Coleman Giles was diagnosed at 6 years old with a heart defect. At 7 years old, he needed a heart transplant. Being able to game was one of the most important parts of his recovery, helping him to find a little piece of home in the hospital. Coleman is 16 now, and he works with CHLA as a Junior Ambassador, representing the hospital at events and helping others to see the good work it does in the community. He has also been a fan of Typical Gamer for almost as long as Rebelo’s channel has been around. Along with the generous donation, Typical Gamer went above and beyond to visit Coleman at his home and spend time playing games with him. The two played Fortnite together, winning their first game, and the shared some of his mom’s famous bunt cake along with the cast and crew of the announcement video!
After 10 years of creating content for YouTube, Typical Gamer has no plans on stopping anytime soon. He plans to be exclusive to the platform going forward as he grows his audience and helps build up YouTube’s streaming service, YouTube Gaming. Grabbing influential people in the gaming space is critical to the future of the platform, and Typical Gamer is a huge win for YouTube Gaming.
Hopefully this is just the beginning of Typical Gamer’s journey with Extra Life. His donation and visit with Coleman represent a wonderful gesture. We hope he’ll be able to find the time to continue helping kids like Coleman in Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the United States and Canada.
