Partner efforts recognized during virtual celebration
During a virtual awards celebration in May, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals recognized some of its Richmond area partners with special awards.
Spirit Award – Costco has been a Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals partner since 1988, raising nearly $500 million company-wide. Last year during the pandemic, Costco raised $35.5 million for CMN Hospitals across the country. Congratulations to the Glen Allen and Chesterfield Costco Warehouse teams for their efforts, which raised $79,646 – with just two locations!
Superhero Award – Panda Express has raised over $230,000 for Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU since the beginning of its partnership. Last year, Panda Express’ seven Richmond-area locations raised more than $57,000 for CHoR. Panda Express also donated 20,000 critical PPE to CHoR’s healthcare staff and delivered approximately 200 meals to frontline team members at VCU and CHoR.
Philanthropy Award – In 2020, RE/MAX Commonwealth agents donated over $45,000 to CHoR, more than any other year. Fifty RE/MAX Commonwealth agents participated in the Miracle Home Program, where agents donated after each closed transaction. RE/MAX agents have been raising funds for CHoR since 1994, donating $339,000.
Rockstar Award – Richard Mallory has been a long time supporter of Extra Life, a gaming event hosted by CMN Hospitals. Over the past two years, Richard has raised over $18,000 to support CHoR by hosting a tournament he calls “Squids 4 Kids.” Last year, Extra Life collected more than $58,000 from all of its gamer participants.
Vision Award – As the voices of Audacy Radio, Bill Drake, Wicker and Wilde, Kat Simons, Zach, Mojo, Liz, Matt Murphy, John Reid and Jeff Katz, Mike Street and Big Nat helped advocate for CHoR’s children and families through the 36 Hours For Kids Radiothon. Last year, this radiothon was one of only a few radiothons across the country to increase total giving, raising more than $228,000 for CHoR.
