Announcing Extra Life Hackathon’s Top Four Finalists

We are so excited about our inaugural Extra Life Hackathon and we’re thrilled to announce our top four finalists who will be sharing their hackathon ideas at Extra Life United in Orlando.

These incredible finalists will present their “big ideas” to revolutionize Extra Life on April 8, 2020. Their Shark Tank style presentations will be showcased for Extra Life United attendees and a judging panel of diverse subject matter experts (who will be announced soon).

The top four finalists advanced to the last round after being reviewed by the following subject matter experts.

  • Jeromy Adams Extra Life’s Founder
  • Whitney Lynn Humble Bundle’s Marketing Manager
  • Jon Kefaloukos Microsoft’s Sr. Enterprise Sales Solutions Specialist
  • Ben Clayton Donor Drive’s Product Integration Developer
  • Brandon “Shamanom” Harris Twitch Ambassador + Content Creator

Without further ado, we’re thrilled to congratulate our finalists:

Extra Life University

Students at West Chester University in Pennsylvania created the Golden Gamers team in 2018.  The team raised over $15,000 USD for Extra Life in two years, earned official club status on WCU’s campus, and has now expanded into three team levels: current collegiate, alumni and high schoolers. This idea aims to replicate this academic fundraising model for other schools and help more student esports teams succeed in supporting Extra Life.

Team Challenges and Incentives

In 2019, Extra Life debuted new Milestones + Incentives fundraising features for individuals. This submission aims to take this technology to the next level by rolling these features out to teams and also allowing teams to challenge each other in friendly fundraising competition.

Corporate Charity Esports Tournaments

Many companies are eager to promote employee culture-building initiatives and have found great success inviting employees into gaming events at their offices. This idea aims to infuse Extra Life fundraising into workplaces across North America, while also promoting deeper collaboration between companies and their local CMN Hospitals.

Donation Tracker and Milestone + Incentive Ticker for Live Streaming

This submission also aims to deepen the effectiveness of the new Milestones + Incentives features. Milestones + Incentives effectively encourage donations in more measurable increments. However, if you broadcast your gameplay on streaming sites like Twitch, viewers may not realize how close you are towards hitting your next milestone. Integrating a Milestone + Incentive Ticker on your streaming page may make all the difference in reaching fundraising goals.

Congrats to our final four! We can’t wait to see your presentations next month at Extra Life United.
