Giving Tuesday is the Tuesday after American Thanksgiving, and this year it falls on Tuesday, December 3. After indulging in a massive Thanksgiving feast and then chaotic shopping sprees on Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday emerges as a wonderful moment in the holiday season to pay it forward and help others.

Giving Tuesday is a new holiday, originating just seven years ago in 2012. However, it has rapidly become the number one day of the year for charitable giving! We wanted to spotlight a few wonderful ways to support Extra Life on Giving Tuesday this year.

Double Your Donation With Facebook

Hopefully, you’ve already enabled your Donor Drive integrated Facebook Fundraisers for your Extra Life campaign. Just this act alone results in an average increase of $150 USD in funds raised per person. On Giving Tuesday, the social media platform is giving a massive boost to their Facebook Fundraisers feature. Launching at 8am EST (5am PST for you West Coast early-risers), Facebook will release $7 million USD to be distributed through Facebook. Ask your friends to support your Facebook Fundraiser for Extra Life and if they act fast while the $7 million pool exists, the donation will be matched by Facebook!

The most important thing is to enable your Donor Drive integrated Facebook Fundraiser prior to Giving Tuesday so that you’re fully prepared before the matching opportunity begins.
