Support Extra Life without Focusing on Direct Fundraising

COVID-19 has left many people in economically precarious positions. This has left a lot of Extra Lifers out there wondering how they can support their local hospitals without putting themselves under more financial strain. Here’s some great ways you can support your local children’s hospital through Extra Life and Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals that don’t involve direct fundraising.

Indirect Fundraising

There’s simple ways to fund Extra Life in the background of your existing lifestyle. While none of these methods of indirect fundraising will be reflected on your yearly Extra Life total, the funds will go towards Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals’ general donation pool.

Amazon Smile

One of the easiest things you can do is set up automated systems to raise money for your local children’s hospital while you go about your daily business. Small changes to your internet browsing habits, like setting Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals as your charity on, can have huge effects. Setting your charity on Amazon sends 0.5% of your online purchases made through Amazon to CMN Hospitals.

Use Your Free Twitch Prime Subscription for Extra Life

Speaking of Amazon, if you use Amazon Prime, you get one free Twitch Prime subscription per month. That means each month you can choose to subscribe to the ExtraLife4Kids Twitch channel for free, sending 70% of the subscription fee to Extra Life!

Make Purchases on Humble Bundle

Another great way to help is by bookmarking our Humble Bundle affiliate link, which gives 5% of every Humble Bundle purchase to Extra Life. You can stock up on games to get you through these troubled times and also help your community.

At various times throughout the year, Humble Bundle sells specific bundles to fundraise for Extra Life; there’s one bundle for sale right now! If you’re reading this prior to May 27, check out our content creator music bundle.

Host a Virtual Garage Sale

Many people have been using this time to clean out their homes and apartments. This has left people with a lot of miscellaneous items they’d like to ditch. What better way to get rid of them while also helping kids than through eBay? Simply post the items for sale using the “sell for charity” option and select Extra Life. You can then decide between giving between 10% and 100% of your items’ sale price to Extra Life.

Donate PPE to Your Local Hospital

Hospitals need supplies more than ever, and the need grows more each day. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has partnered with Staples to collect donations of personal protective equipment and distribute them to hospitals across the US and Canada. Staples locations will accept new and unused N95 respirator face masks, disposable face masks, eye-shields, protective eye wear, and medical gowns and ship them off to the local CMN Hospital to help ensure kids and their caregivers remain safe and protected during the pandemic.
