Want to raise 3 times more for Extra Life? Milestones & Incentives are proven to do that!
Setting small goals on the way to accomplish larger objectives helps in many areas of life. It turns out that this also applies to Extra Life fundraising! Each person who registers for Extra Life can set up incentives for individuals who donate certain amounts to their page as well as overarching milestones that trigger fun, attention-grabbing events. Not only do these two features overwhelmingly help people raise more money for the kids, milestones and incentives also provide a more meaningful and personal connection to the people who want to help you toward your fundraising goal.
We took a look at the data and noticed many participants leveled up their fundraising by enabling incentives and getting the word out. On average, they raised between 3x-6x more for their hospitals than Extra Lifers who didn’t use this feature.
We see a similar increase for Extra Lifers who enabled milestones. With an average boost to fundraising by between 3x-5x over participants who didn’t enable.
There are all kinds of ways to implement your own unique sets of milestones and incentives. We’re often blown away by how creative and incredible our community can be. If you are stuck on what sort of milestones and incentives you should make for your own fundraiser, here are some past examples from our community:
Incentives
DncingRetsuko is offering “speed drawing” for anyone who donates $10. She will take your prompt and draw it as fast as she can. She has several more incentives if you want to check them out!
Aimi Ikari is offering stickers of her D&D groups characters for $50. This is season 3, so it seems pretty limited (limited incentives give people FOMO)!
On top of a few other incentives, Noofynate will play Phasmophobia for $8! Let’s hope he gets lots of those donations during Spooky Season!
Hark has some fun incentives including $100 for an hour of swing dance lessons and $150 for the Spicy Chip of Doom! Good luck with the chip, Hark! Hopefully, you won’t have to eat it while dancing!
Milestones
Milestones can make your fundraising efforts a celebration for your whole community. BlairBears has 16 milestones, and her community as crushed all of them! One highlight that can make your donors feel like they have made a difference is BlairBears’ $5,000 milestone. At $5,000, she committed to writing letters to all her donors!
Some Milestones are a big commitment like Steven Rodriguez’s $4,000 milestone. Once he reaches $4,000, Steven will get an Extra Life tattoo on his leg! We love to see it!
People often share their head for an Extra Life milestone, and it sounds like that is exactly what SapphireFox intends to do if she reaches $5,000 with her “Hair No More” milestone!
